Tooling Packages

Nothing can be more aggravating than having to look up the clearance drill size for a tap, then having to go and find the right size drill bit. So I started saving the tube containers that end mills and other tooling come in. I put the tap drill and the tap in the tube and labeled it with a Sharpie. I have a drawer dedicated to special “tooling packages” where I keep dedicated tools or combinations of tools for certain jobs. Masking tape works really well for keeping tools together too. Yes, it’s an extra investment to specifically dedicate tooling, but the savings in time can be much greater.
