Shop Tours - James McKnight

When I saw a handful of photos of James’ shop that he had sent to Neil Knopf, I knew I had to have more of them for this feature. The phrase “not an inch of space wasted” certainly applies. Pictures are worth a thousand words, and I will let them do the talking here, save for a few words of introduction.

James is a longtime author for the Village Press metalworking publications, with dozens of articles published in The Home Shop Machinist and Machinist’s Workshop. As you look through the photos of his shop, try to spot the tools and machines that James wrote up as articles.

If you’re interested in seeing more about James’ projects, check out his forthcoming book The Shop Wisdom of James McKnight, scheduled to be released soon and now available for pre-order in our online store. The link for the book is
